Terms of use

1. What you are buying

Wicks is browser-based software for practising chart reading. It replays historical market data one bar at a time and simulates order execution against that data. Buying a lifetime licence grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it for as long as we operate it.

“Lifetime” means the lifetime of the product, not of any person. We will give reasonable notice if we ever stop operating it. It covers the features listed on our pricing page at the time of purchase and any updates we make to them. It does not cover the AI coaching add-on, which is a separate monthly subscription.

2. Payment, and who you are paying

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who act as the merchant of record and are the seller for the purposes of your transaction. Your payment, invoice, and any applicable sales tax or VAT are handled by them under their terms. We never see or store your card details.

Prices are shown on the pricing page and may change. A change never affects a licence you have already bought.

3. Refunds

You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason or none. See the refund policy for how. Refunding your licence ends your right to use the software but does not delete your journal, which is stored in your own browser.

4. Your account

We create your account when you buy, using the email address you paid with. Sign-in is by a one-time link sent to that address, so keep access to it. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

A licence is for one person. You may use it on as many of your own devices as you like. You may not share, resell, sublicense or transfer it.

5. What you may not do

We may suspend or end a licence that is being used this way. Where the breach is honest and fixable we will tell you and give you a chance to fix it first.

6. AI coaching

AI coaching is optional, costs extra, and requires an active lifetime licence. When you turn it on, the journal data you choose to submit is sent to Anthropic for analysis. See the privacy policy for exactly what that means.

It is generated text. It can be wrong, and it is not advice. Monthly usage limits apply and are shown in the app. You can cancel at any time; cancelling never affects your lifetime licence or your journal.

7. Simulated results and no advice

Everything in Wicks is a simulation on past data. Nothing in the software or on our site is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, a recommendation to trade, or an offer to buy or sell anything. We are not a broker, an exchange or an adviser, and we are not regulated as one.

Simulated trading has limitations that real trading does not. It cannot fully reproduce slippage, liquidity, order queue position, requotes, outages or the psychological pressure of risking your own money. Results in the software do not indicate what would have happened in a live market and do not indicate what will happen in future. Read the risk disclaimer.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the service up but do not promise uninterrupted access. Historical market data comes from public third-party sources and is provided as-is: it may contain gaps, errors or revisions, and a source may withdraw it. We may change or remove instruments and features.

9. Warranties and liability

The software is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind beyond those we cannot lawfully exclude. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or that the data is accurate or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any trading losses, lost profits, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the software. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights that these terms cannot override.

10. Ending the agreement

You may stop using the software at any time. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms and do not fix it after notice, or immediately where the breach cannot be fixed. Section 7, 9 and 11 survive the end of this agreement.

11. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. If a change materially reduces your rights we will email licence holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the software after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of United States, and its courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you may also have the protection of your local law.
